When Covid-19 hit, and the world came to a standstill, like everyone else, we waited for things to get better and for some form of normalcy to resume. But, unfortunately, weeks passed by, and nothing seemed to change. Every news channel and newspaper reported more and more on how bad the situation was getting worldwide. Hope seemed to have vanished, and all that was left was fear and uncertainty.

As a family, lighting candles has always been part of our everyday lives. For us, candles were and always will be a constant. A constant source that brings peace, happiness, and light into our lives, both literally and metaphorically. But most importantly, it brings our family closer together with each passing day. The fact that the simple flickering flame of a candle could make such an enormous difference, amazes us.
Locked away at home during COVID-19, lighting a candle felt like a little glimmer of hope had been restored in us. Our house would fill up with positivity and soothing vibes every time we would light our candles. We needed to share this with the world, bring people closer and remind them that we are all in this together.
After months of researching and experimenting with different mediums, materials, fragrances, and oils, we have finally created our line of candles. We present to you Guru Om - A collection of sustainable, homemade candles.
Our candles have brought us immense hope, positivity, and happiness, and we want nothing more than to extend the same to you, with lots of love and warmth.

Guru Om is derived from the concept of our faith in our Guru. Gu is darkness, ru denotes light, Guru denotes someone who leads you from darkness to light, and OM is the first ever mantra. In Hinduism, it is one of the most prominent spiritual symbols. It refers to the indwelling self as well as the ultimate reality of the universe.
We all see things differently and it may seem unusual, but we decided to choose black as the predominant colour for our brand because to us, black is a symbol of strength, a colour that absorbs all negativity and a colour that symbolises elegance and confidence. Black is a colour that makes us realise our potential in our darkest times. This is also reflected in our packaging. Our candles come in all black boxes which represent the darkness, while our candles represent the light.
In these dark and uncertain times, we at Guru Om are doing our bit to spread a little light. Our team of employees that make the magic happen are women in desperate need of an income. We share our knowledge with them and teach them the intricate process of making these candles from scratch with careful precision and skill. Not only do your purchases help these women receive a regular source of income, but a part of what you pay in exchange for the candles goes to a charitable organisation in need of help and support. Thus, our candles bring light not only into your lives, but their lives as well.
Our candles are a symbolic reminder to people that they are not alone. They help people rejuvenate, meditate and relax. The flame's soft illumination is soul touching, the flickering flame, a simple yet sacred tool to help reduce stress and increase self-awareness. We have various fragrances and many different product lines planned for you, some with multiple health benefits.
We hope that through GuruOm, we can bring light into our darkest moments. We hope to be able to walk the path of compassion, kindness, love, and light ✨
